Performance Engineer

Our client, a Major Financial Trading and Asset Management firm located in Omaha, NE is looking for a Performance Test Engineer to join their team! The location is in Omaha, NE but also willing to staff the role in their St. Louis, MO office if that location is preferred. Work with Performance Consultants on what the requirements are for the test, create scripts, workloads, run tests, watch test as it is running and report on any issues that are happening during the test. After the test create a report that has observations and findings of the tests and any of the tasks that have been assigned to others. The Senior Performance Engineer will work with the Performance Consultants to mentor Application Development and Application Engineers on ways to better our products. The focus of the Senior Performance Engineer will be to build technical foundation in our applications. The ability to build technical relationships with Application Development and Application Engineering staff is a strong requirement for this position.

Responsibilities:
Consult on the test plans that the performance consultants create to make sure all of the requested areas for measuring performance are getting covered. Interact with business and development with them on the workload that will provide key SLA for performance. Designing of simulators for testing at the network level for packets testing; example would be Quote Plant Usage of the self-testing tools; examples would be AppD, Performance Center, Tivoli and BMC Consult with Performance Consultant on the environment to evaluate if any of the dependencies are working correctly and if not assist on trouble shooting with the team.
Provide the results of the test to evaluate where the applications or environment code cause a performance issue. Review logs and monitoring of disk I/O, CPU and memory for issues so they can be fixed before going to prod. Review requirements are being created take part in addressing the areas of performance that is expected by the business. Interact with development to assure that the performance metrics are taken into consideration when they are developing.
Consult on workload models & target SLAs. Create Runbooks. Support Performance Consultants as technical liaison and advocate between Performance Engineering Group and other T2 organizations Oversees performance risks at every life cycle phase and prepares mitigation plans Advanced knowledge of LOB and Infrastructure implications required Review core applications Performance Test Results ensuring (a) accuracy, (b) clarity, and (c) completeness.
Direct and/or assist in root cause analysis of performance defects Lead and socialize data parameterization strategies general concepts as well as initiative specific Requirements: 2-5 years of performance software testing experience 2-5 years of using performance testing tools. IE Performance Center Demonstrates a solid understanding of product lifecycles as well as how technical systems work and interact Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving/decision making skills Must be very detail oriented Must have minimum 2+ years experience in Windows, LINUX, UNIX, JAVA, Web Services, SQL Server, Oracle Must have minimum 2+ years experience scripting in Unix/Linux.
